PUERTO RICO // PART FOUR

Puerto Rico Part Four.

One day we decided to stay the night in a cute hotel by the sea, Parador Villa Parguera, to visit the bioluminescent bay at night. The hotel was really charming and offered some great views. It was pretty much impossible to take pictures of the shimmering plankton but I kind of liked the painterly quality of these photos I took on the boat ride to and from the bay.

My friends have visited the bio bay in Vieques and said it was an unreal experience. That is definitely on my to do list for next time!

PUERTO RICO // PART THREE

Puerto Rico Part Three.

We went to a little restaurant on the beach called La Casa De Los Pastelillos. The food was great but you really go there for the views! It is right on the beach. They have hammocks in their patio and on the beach for you to lounge in while you eat. Simply genius! Again, my obsession with the pretty towering palm trees, sigh.

PUERTO RICO // PART TWO

Puerto Rico part two.

La Isla Del Encanto is well known for having sexy beaches but they also, gorgeous mountains. I had so much fun just riding in the car while my Mom drove us around so many different mountains. My favorites are "Las Tetas De Cayay", which translates into "The Boobies of Cayey", my Mom has always pointed them out to me since I was a little girl! Can you spot the picture above?

It was so neat to see fields of plantains trees all over the island, always closer to the water. Can you tell I have a thing for palm trees? I completely took them for granted when I lived in Florida and now that I've been in Chicago for 7 years I am obsessed! See also: finding VW bugs and buses. I started an album of them on Flickr.

PS How cute are my Mom and Aunts lounging in the natural hot springs pool?!

PUERTO RICO // PART ONE

I have been visiting my family in Puerto Rico my entire life but hadn't come to appreciate all the beauty that the tiny island beholds until my last visit there this May. My Mom, Aunt and I did so many fun cultural things there that I had never done before and some that I didn't even know existed!

In an effort not to overwhelm y'all I thought I'd break up the posts in little categories this week. This post features some photos I snapped while driving around the island. We drove around a lot every day, taking different routes to experience all the different sights the island has to offer. These photos were mostly taken from the car. I love all the brightly colored houses there. As you can tell by the multiple horse photos, I couldn't believe that people still ride horses as a legit form of transportation and that horses are just lose around the island! Also, please note the time we saw Wolverine downing a refreshment, in Puerto Rico.

Hope you enjoy these!
